Discover the National Park

The route goes through the villages of Anilio, Chaliki, Kalarrites and Pramanta.

The National Park is a huge open-air folklore museum and combines harmonically characteristics of both natural and man-made sights such as stone bridges, traditional settlements, coexisting with the natural wonders such as beautiful landscapes, steep mountains, gorges and caves.

Many rare species of plants grow in the region. The area is also home to protected mammal species such as otters (Lutra lutra), brown bears (Ursus arctos) and wild goats (Rupicapra Rupicapra balcanica) while the whole park is particularly important to bird’s populations. There have also been recorded many species of invertebrates, fishes, amphibians and reptiles.

Ostensive points of interest are Panagia Galaktotrofoussa’s (Chaliki) Monastery, Baros pathway (alt. 2,000m), Kouiasa’s springs, Kipinas’ Monastery, Anemotripas’ cave, Plakas’ historical bridge, Papagiannis’ Museum of Contemporary Art and Tsoukas Monastery.

A lunch break will be taken in the village of Pramanta in which visitors will taste local products. Then the tour continues with a visit to the cave Anemotripa which was discovered in 1960.

Tour time is about to 6 hours.
