The ecosystem of Amvrakikos gulf

The ecosystem of Amvrakikos gulf is remarkable, because of its unique environment, attracts the attention of Greece, European Union, and the global community.

Its creation is due to the estuaries of the two main rivers of Louros and Arachthos.

Amvrakikos gulf is one of the eleven Greek wetland regions that are protected by the International RAMSAR Convention.

Also, the wetlands of Amvrakikos, due to the scarcity of morphology and inhabitants, and due to the presence of rare and endangered species, were characterized as one of the most important areas of the NATURA 2000 network.
